FINDING INFORMATION ON GENERAL MOTORS

There are several good sources of information on the internet on a daily basis of what is happening with General Motors.  As a GM Retiree you may want to take advantage of these to stay informed about General Motors and how it might affect you.

www.gmlsrc.org  This is our GM Lansing Salaried Retirees Club web site.  In addition to club activities we post links and other information on GM that are of special interest to GM Salaried Retirees.

www.gm.com/corporate/employees/retirees/  This is the GM retiree’s web site.  There is also a link to enroll in the GM Retirees newsletter through email.  The GMLSRC web site also has a link for signing up for this newsletter.

www.overthehillcarpeople.com  This is a web site that has been involved in communicating information of interest to auto retirees and GM in specific.  They were very active in providing information on health plans when GM dropped those for salaried retirees.  Recently they have provided leadership in meeting with President Obama’s Auto Task Force on protecting salaried retirees benefits.  We post links to specific information on this web site that is available to the public.  In addition we encourage individuals to join the membership of this web site for a one-time fee of $25 to strengthen their position of representing GM Retirees.  There is much more additional information available to members.  GMLSRC paid the membership for me to monitor the site, recommend posted updates on our web site, and report to the board monthly.

www.nrln.org  This is the National Retiree Legislative Network.  They are a national organization lobbying to protect retiree benefits and pensions.  They are working to protect all retiree’s interests and are not specific to GM.  GMLSRC paid the membership for John Fox to report out to the board monthly about NRLN activities.

www.gmret.org  The General Motors Retirees Association is a newly formed offshoot of the NRLN set up to lobby for the specific interest of GM retirees.  The GMLSRC board has taken a neutral stance, wait-and-see, position on the organization for a number of reasons including membership cost.  Individuals are encouraged to check out the group and make their own decisions about becoming members.

www.detnews.com and www.Freep.com  These are the two Detroit newspaper web sites that have daily updates of news affecting the auto industry.

www.usatoday.com  This is the web site of this national newspaper that often has auto industry news.

Although the information at these web sites may not be very positive in these trying times they will allow you to be informed.
